Insurance

Insurance is something that if used correctly can make everybody’s lives easier. Worrying about our finances is something that has undoubtedly kept us all up at night at some point during our time. Wondering how you and your family will cope if something unfortunate and unexpected were to happen can put a huge strain on everyone concerned. The many and incredibly varied insurance options that are available can ease and even completely take these worries away, making for a much happier and stress free life for all who take advantage of its existence.

Insurance comes in many different shapes and sizes and can easily be adapted to your needs depending on what exactly you want it for. Although it may often initially seem confusing, there are several companies and well informed people who can explain it all to you simply, eradicating any incorrect preconceptions and confusions you may have.

There are many factors that will determine the cost of your insurance. Most policies will be paid for via a monthly payment which is referred to as your premium. The cost of your premium is influenced firstly by the product, person or event that you wish to purchase insurance for. For example, the price of insuring a life will usually cost more than insurance for your mobile phone. However it is the amount of money payable to the policy holder when a claim is made that will have the biggest impact on your premium.

Insurance can be purchased for practically everything. Be it a possession, event or even a person or animal. The selection of policies available for each thing is also extremely varied so that you can practically tailor your coverage to any individual needs. Making a claim on any kind of policy can sometimes appear tricky depending on the situation, however if you are fully aware of the content of your policy then it needn’t be a difficult task.

Usually when you make a claim on your insurance you will find that you must pay something called an excess. An excess is a pre-agreed amount of money that is paid by you to the insurance company every time that you wish to claim. The cost of your excess is determined by the type of policy that you are claiming on, for example the excess charge for medical expenses will be more than that for a stolen mobile phone. The amount is also influenced by the level of coverage that you have and possibly some varying factors in relation to the policy holder. Paying an excess on your insurance is completely normal and you should always make sure you are aware of what this charge will be before you sign anything!

Insurance is there to help you when you need it and can often mean the difference between plain sailing and huge financial difficulty. Whereas in some cases insurance is mandatory by law, in other cases it is just good common sense and a great way to protect the things that are important to you.
